5 Vehicles to Look out for in 2022
1. 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning

The Ford F-150 is the best-selling car in America, and it has been for decades. To bring this legendary truck into the twenty-first century, later this year, Ford is introducing the F-150 Lightning, a fully-electric F-150 that’s just as powerful as its gas-powered predecessor.
The new F-150 Lightning’s motors output a combined 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft. of torque, plus the instant response of in-board electric motors means you’ll roar from 0–60 mph in around 4.5 seconds. And with the same comfort and toughness as the traditional F-150, the F-150 Lightning is shaping up to be revolutionary.
2. 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Scheduled for production in summer 2022, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has broken the world record for power output. This monster sports car outputs 670 horsepower at 8,400 rpm from its naturally-aspirated LT6 5.5L V8, and it has a peak torque of 460 lb-ft. at 6,300 RPM. It’s also got an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that’s geared to improve acceleration around the track.
Plus, when the Corvette Z06 goes on sale, it’ll be offered with a Z07 track performance package featuring several improvements, including Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and optional carbon fiber wheels. Even if you don’t decide to go all-out, Chevrolet is offering 12 exterior colors, 7 interiors, 7 types of wheels, 6 brake caliper colors, 6 seat belt options, 3 types of seats, and 2 carbon-fiber trim packages for configuration online.
3. 2022 Toyota GR 86

The Toyota GR 86 is the second Toyobaru that’s been made; the first was the 2022 Subaru BRZ. The GR 86 is Toyota’s entry in the collaboration between manufacturers that are bound to make any sports car enthusiast who also wants something lightweight and affordable. Similar to the BRZ, the Toyota GR 86 is a smooth-driving two-door coupe with Subaru’s BOXER engine with a low center of gravity and rigid body, making for incredibly fun handling on the road.
Be on the lookout for this fun collab later this year or early 2023. Toyota’s going to start selling the GR 86 in Japan this fall, and “U.S. product plans for this exciting new vehicle will be provided at a later date,” according to Toyota’s website.
4. 2023 Honda Civic Type R

Although Honda is pretty tight-lipped about this new hatchback Civic, it is expected to be “the best performing Civic Type R ever,” with turbo power, a manual transmission, limited-slip differential, and a huge wing. The 2023 Honda Civic Type R was on display at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon from January 14–16 and should debut later this year at Tonkin Automotive dealerships.
5. 2022 Mazda CX-50

Coming very soon to the American market, the CX-50 is Mazda’s answer to highly popular crossover SUVs like the Subaru Outback. It’s like a more adventurous version of Mazda’s bestseller, the Mazda CX-5, with trail-ready features that don’t sacrifice the on-road driving dynamics you’d expect from Mazda. The Mazda CX-50 will also feature the same engine choices available for the CX-5, along with an off-road and towing mode for more adventuring possibilities.
